                           Research Associate
                Experimental Infrared Astrophysics
                           Cornell University

      The infrared group at Cornell University invites applications for a
      Research Associate position in experimental astronomy. The
      successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in
      ongoing research efforts including: 

          - lab testing and observing with our submillimeter imaging
            Fabry-Perot interferometer, SPIFI, on the 15m James Clerk
            Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) on Mauna Kea, and the 1.7m
            AST/RO telescope at the South Pole 
          - lab testing and observing with our submillimeter echelle grating
            spectrometer, ZEUS on the JCMT 
          - design and testing of subsystems for the 5 to 38 micron facility
            camera, FORCAST on SOFIA 
          - various observational studies using the Palomar 5m telescope,
            and 
          - observing and science programs associated with the SIRTF
            deep extragalactic survey legacy program, SWIRE. 

      Experience in infrared or submillimeter instrumentation is preferred,
      but not required. Applicants are requested to send their resumes,
