Dear colleague,
The ISO Data Centre is seeking to add to its pool of instrument
expertise, with particular emphasis on ISOCAM and ISOPHOT expertise
During ISO's Active Archive Phase we are working to capture into the
ISO Archive the refined data products associated with the publication
of the ISO data. The rate at which the ISO data is being reflected in
publications can be appreciated from the plot of ISO publication rate
compared with the publication rate of other recent successful space
science missions:
http://www.iso.vilspa.esa.es/science/pub/ISO_publ_rate.pdf
There is enormous potential to work with the community in the further
exploitation of the ISO data, and to translate published work into high
quality products given high profile availability through the ISO Data
Archive.
We need astronomers to become involved with groups in the community in
the systematic analysis of ISO data, an activity which will complement
personal research work which is expected to occupy 30% of the time of
ISO Data Centre astronomers. In addition, individuals recruited into
the ISO Data Centre at this time will work on aspects of the upcoming
ASTRO-F mission, and may later be involved in the operations of
HERSCHEL.
Astronomers interested in applying for open positions at IDC are
encouraged to consider the Vacancy Notice ESA/VN-ESOC(2002)003,REV.1
