     Interferometry, 3000 Euro, deadline 15 March

Dear Researchers (PH.D., Postdoc, staff)

Fizeau Exchange Visitors Program in Optical & infrared Interferometry, 3000
Euro, deadline 15 March

The European Interferometry Initiative (EII
http://www.strw.leidenuniv.nl/~eurinterf ), an OPTICON Network Activity
(NA), announces the EII Fizeau Exchange Visitor Program. Funding is
available for short-term visits of researchers to an institute of his/her
choice within the European Community (EC) or Candidate Countries (CC). The
objective of the visit should be to perform collaborative work on one of
the active topics of the European Interferometry Initiative. The visits
will be typically of one month length, and strengthen the network of
astronomers engaged in technical and scientific work on optical/infrared
interferometry. The Fizeau Exchange Visitor Program (FEVP) will cover only
travel and accommodation of the successful applicant.

The purpose of a visit to an institute of his/her choice must be:
(1) to exploit the scientific opportunities of the existing and new
interferometric facilities, and to increase their productivity;
(2) to integrate interferometry with more traditional astronomical
techniques, and to make interferometry accessible to non-specialists;
(3) to develop a long-term scientific perspective for optical/infrared
interferometry well into the next decade.

Conditions of exchange visit are:
1.	Eligible candidates are researches (at all levels) from EC or CC;
2.	The host must be a recognized institution with optical/infrared
interferometric research or instrumentation experience. This condition may
be relaxed by the Selection Committee in the case of CC institution;
3.	Full set of application material should have been received at
eurinterf@strw.leidenuniv.nl before noon of the day of the deadline;
4.	The exchange visit should take place within 6 month of the application
deadline;
5.	The applications should use the FEVP application form (available at the
end of this announcement).

Application submission address: eurinterf@strw.leidenuniv.nl
The deadline for applications are 15 March and 15 September for the
duration of the activity (2004 up to 2008).
