Positions in Astronomy and Astrophysics
INSTITUTE OF ASTRONOMY & ASTROPHYSICS (ASIAA)
Academia Sinica, Taiwan
The ASIAA (http://www.asiaa.sinica.edu.tw), located in the campus of National
Taiwan University in Taipei, is an institute of the Academia Sinica, the
national research organization in Taiwan. The ASIAA is an internationally
oriented institute where English is the working language. Several
positions are
open for postdoctoral fellows and tenure-track/tenure staff members
in all areas
of astronomy. There is ample support for research and travel to observatories
and international meetings, as well as an active visitors program.
Present research in astronomy and astrophysics at the ASIAA include the Solar
System, Stellar Atmospheres and Mass Outflows, Star Formation, Galactic
Dynamics, Starburst Galaxies and Active Galaxies (including QSOs), Dark Matter,
and Cosmology. Our main telescope projects include the SubMillimeter Array
(SMA) on Mauna Kea, the Taiwan-American Occultation Survey (TAOS) for small
Kuiper Belt objects, the Array for Microwave Background Anisotropy (AMiBA) to
study CMB polarization and search for distant galaxy clusters using the the
Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect, a Wide-Field Infrared Camera (WIRCam) for the CFHT on
Mauna Kea in exchange for guaranteed observing time, and a CFD-MHD initiative.
Many of these and other projects are made in close collaboration with leading
research organizations worldwide.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a brief summary of research and
future research plans or instrumentation experience, and arrange three letters
