Subject: FUSE Jobs Available at JHU

Dear Colleagues,

The FUSE group at JHU is seeking to fill three kinds of jobs. These are:

1) A scientist to do full time research. We expect this to be at the
postdoctoral level, but a more senior person will be considered if warranted.

2) A scientist who will split his/her time between research and programmatic
work. The programmatic work may include duties associated with Guest
Investigator support, mission planning and scheduling, calibration,
maintenance and improvements to the CALFUSE pipeline, and planning for the
extended mission phase, which will require more autonomous capability than we
presently have. Again, this could be at the postdoc level or, for a very
qualified person, associate research scientist. This position allows 30 -
50%
time devoted to research, depending on specific duties and the interests of
the candidate. We do expect this person to maintain an active research
program, either with PI team data or other data, as desired.

3) A bright and industrious bachelors or masters degree level person to work
in mission and science operations, programming, data processing, or other
technical aspects of the program. We have in mind someone who is excited
about participating in an active astronomy mission and would get exposed to
both astronomers doing active research and experienced mission operations
personnel. The exact duties would depend on both the candidate's interests
and our needs, and may evolve over time.

We expect to hire between 1 and 3 persons for each position, depending on
which positions fill first. Please call this offer to the attention of
students and postdocs in your department and to your colleagues who may know
of possible candidates. Additional information may be obtained at our web
site, http://fuse.pha.jhu.edu/ .

Sincerely,

Scott Friedman
