Applications are invited for a PostDoctoral Fellowship in the area of
detection and characterization of extra-solar planetary systems. The
successful applicant will join the McDonald Observatory Planetary Search
program. This program comprises high-precision radial velocity surveys for
planetary systems using the McDonald Observatory 2.7m Harlan Smith
Telescope, the Hobby-Eberly Telescope, the Keck 1 Telescope, and
collaboration in programs using ESO and VLT. In addition, a program of
planetary transit photometry utilizes the Prime Focus Corrector of the
McDonald Observatory 0.8m telescope. The appointment will be for one year
with the anticipation of reappointment for two additional years. The
position may begin as soon as winter or spring 2001. Applications should
include curriculum vitae, bibliography, and a statement of research
background and interests. Applicants must arrange for three letters of
recommendation to be sent to the above address. Applicants should hold a
Ph.D. or equivalent degree at the time the position commences. All
application material must be received by 1 December 2000. AAE/EOE.
