at University of Saskatchewan SuperDARN Team
---------------------------------------------------------------------
From: George Sofko <sofko@dansas.usask.ca>

The SuperDARN (Super Dual Auroral Radar Network) group at the University of
Saskatchewan has an immediate opening for a Research Associate or Postdoctoral
Fellow. The successful candidate would be expected to analyze SuperDARN data
in conjunction with data from all types of satellite and ground-based
instruments (magnetometers, particle spectrometers, optical instruments,
all-sky cameras, imagers, meridian scanning photometers, and other radars such
as ionosondes, coherent radars, and ISRs) to study the magnetosphere/
ionosphere interaction, space weather, and HF radiowave propagation. The
University of Saskatchewan is the Canadian SuperDARN headquarters, from
which the operation of the Prince George and Saskatoon SuperDARN radars is
controlled. The successful candidate may be asked to participate in the
general radar operations and software development. Experience with
SuperDARN analysis and operations would be an asset in obtaining the position.

Funding for this position has been secured through a Collaborative Research
Opportunities Grant from NSERC Canada and is available until March 31, 2005.
Initial salary will depend on the experience of the applicant. The position
will be reviewed annually; continuation of employment and salary adjustments
will be subject to the progress made during the preceding year. This
advertisement is preferentially directed at Canadian applicants, but all
applicants will be considered.

Applications should be sent to Dr. George Sofko, Dept. of Physics and Eng.
Physics, University of Saskatchewan, 116 Science Place, Saskatoon, SK, Canada
S7N 5E2 (e-mail: sofko@dansas.usask.ca; phone 306-966-6444).
