Post doc position for APE experiment
-------------------------------------------

The Arcetri AO group is opening a one year post doc or graduated
position (renewable to 2 years) to work on the Active Phasing Experiment
(APE). This experiment is aimed to study the behaviour of several
waevfront sensors operated to co-phase segmented mirrors. This experimen
is part of the EC funded ELT design study FP6 project. The Arcetri group
is in charge to design and deliver a pyramid wavefront sensor to be used
as co-phasing sensor. A first test of the WFS will take place in
Garching at the end of 2006. A test at the VLT telescope
is scheduled for summer 2007. More infos on the APE project can be found
in the paper located at the following link:

Candidate duty.

The candidate is requested to partecipate the design and laboratory
integration of the co-phasing wavefront sensor together with the Arcetri
AO group. He will be involved in the laboratory test in Arceri and the
required data reduction.
The candidate will be requested to partecipate the ESO laboratory
experiment and the VLT measurement campaign.

Candidate profile.

A degree in physycs Astronomy or Engennery is required. PhD in one of
the above mentioned branch is recommended. Previous Knowledge of
adaptive optics for astronomy or more generally astronomical optical
systems is relevant. Laboratory experience with complex opto-mechanical
set-up is important. Previous knoweledge of Atmospheric optical
turbulence would be a plus.

Candidate remuneration.

The salary for this fellowship will be related to the candidate
experience and is approximately 2500 Euro/month.

Application Submission:

The candidates should send by e-mail a CV and a short resume of past
