[astro-jc] PostDoc position in numerical MHD, Postdam, Allemagne =?UTF-8?B?UsOpemEgU2FtYWRp?=

PostDoc position in numerical MHD
---------------------------------

The Astrophysical Institute Potsdam (AIP) invites applications
for a full position in the field of numerical magnetohydrodynamics.
The problem of angular-momentum transport is related to the magneto-
rotational instability (MRI) in many astrophysical objects. The
project PROMISE aims at the experimental proof of this instability
and is a common project with the MHD group at Forschungszentrum
Rossendorf. The successful applicant will carry out numerical
simulations of Taylor-Couette flows in parallel to the experimental
setup. The applicant should have a firm knowledge of numerical
physics and serious interest in solving MHD problems.

Applicants should additionally hold a PhD in physics or applied
mathematics. The appointment is for three years. The salary is
based upon the German federal public service scale (BAT-O IIa).
The position also includes allowance for participations in national
and international conferences. The AIP is an equal opportunity
employer and welcomes applications from women, disabled persons
and under-represented minorities.

The position is to be filled in early 2006; the starting date can
be agreed upon individually. Please send your application (email
submission preferred) with a CV, list of publications and two
letters of recommendation to:
