Subject: Post-doc announcement on INTEGRAL/SPI (fwd)
POST-DOCTORAL POSITION AT CEA SACLAY,
SERVICE D'ASTROPHYSIQUE
Spectrometer SPI aboard the INTEGRAL Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Satellite
A 3-year postdoctoral position will be opened at Service d'Astrophysique
(CEA Saclay, Paris region, France) in the framework of the SPI Spectrometer
aboard INTEGRAL, ESA's gamma-ray astrophysics satellite, performing observations
in the 20 keV to 8 MeV energy band since early 2003. The SPI group at Saclay
participated in the design, development and calibration of the instrument,
and has therefore a guaranteed return in observation time in the context of
gamma-ray line astrophysics.
The successful post-doc candidate will participate in the analysis of the
guaranteed-time data and the available archive data, using and improving the
available software tools, and will contribute to the scientific interpretation
of the results on gamma-ray line astrophysics, as e.g. the electron-positron
annihilation line, the 26Al line and nuclear excitation lines.
This post-doc position could start beginning of April 2006. Interested
physicists should contact Stéphane Schanne (s.schanne@cea.fr) or
Bertrand Cordier (b.cordier@cea.fr) before the end of 2005.
