The University of Li?ge (Belgium) invites applications for a full position
(or several part-time positions) as Professor of Optics . The position(s)
is (are) either tenure-track (with a probation period of maximum 5 years)
or immediately permanent.
The applicant must be able to initiate and develop a research program in
optics within the HOLOLAB group, and to collaborate with the Li?ge Space
Center (CSL) and the Department of Astrophysics, Geophysics and
Oceanography. He/she will also teach basic and specialised courses in
optics, and partake in the activities of the Department. After a period of
3 years, fluency in French will be expected.
The applicant must have a well-known expertise in some or all of the
following domains:
* micro-technologies related to optics such as: diffractive optics,
micro-optics, holographic techniques, micro-lithography;
* control and measurement of components via interferometry, profilometry,
SEM and AFM;
* technologies and materials used to build ultra-light mirrors;
* technologies and materials used in wavelength regions from the far-UV (or
even X) to the thermal IR;
* design of optical systems potentially used in space, with ray-tracing
software for optimisation and system analysis;
* design of non-imaging optical systems such as illuminating or
light-concentrating systems;
* active and adaptive optics.
