================================================================

The Cavendish Astrophysics Group in Cambridge (UK) has available a place
for a PhD student to do research on optical/IR interferometry starting in
October 2004. The research project would cover the areas of multi-way beam
combiners and/or high-speed detectors for use in state-of-the-art
interferometer arrays such as ESO's VLTI (see
http://www.eso.org/projects/vlti/) or the MRO interferometer (see
http://www.mro.nmt.edu).

The PhD place comes with full funding (fees and maintenance) for EU
students. Funding for candidates from other countries may be available
subject to negotiation.

General information about the Cavendish Astrophysics group can be found at
http://www.mrao.cam.ac.uk. Please contact David Buscher (email:
dfb@mrao.cam.ac.uk, telephone +44 1223 337302) for further details about
the studentship and project.

There is no application deadline, but earlier applicants will receive
preferential consideration.
