Dear Marrakech site evaluation workshop participant:

I am writing you on behalf of the California Extremely Large Telescope
(CELT) site characterization group. We are looking for one (and in the
long run possibly a second) postdoctoral researcher to play an important
role in the site selection process of the proposed 30-m telescope CELT.
Since we are currently outside the standard hiring cycle and are afraid
that some qualified candidates might not be searching the job
announcements, we would appreciate if you could forward this mail to
anybody who might be interested in this position. The announcement is
attached below and can also be found at

http://cfao.ucolick.org/employment/Postdoc/UC_Irvine2.shtml

Thank you very much for your attention.

Best regards,
Matthias Schoeck

CALIFORNIA EXTREMELY LARGE TELESCOPE (CELT)
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER POSITION AVAILABLE

within three years. The successful candidate will work on the planning
and execution of, and data analysis and interpretation from, an
atmospheric characterization campaign. Responsibilities will likely
include the operation of site testing equipment in remote areas, such as
Mauna Kea (Hawaii) or northern Chile, for extended periods of time.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or a related
field, and the ability to work at high altitudes and with limited direct
supervision. Familiarity with adaptive optics and wavefront sensing is
strongly desired. Salary is dependent upon qualifications. Starting
Date: July 1, 2002. The position will remain open until filled.
