The Centre de Donnees astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS)
develops services used by astronomers worldwide
(SIMBAD, VizieR, Aladin). CDS invites applications for
a postdoctoral position in radioastronomy, to
contribute to its evolution in view of future large observing
projects, in particular ALMA and Herschel-FIRST/Planck.

The successful candidate will implement into the CDS services
the tools and data necessary for accompanying present and future
research in the radio domain, in particular for ALMA, in collaboration
with project scientists. He or she will also update the
contents of the CDS services in the domain of centimetric and
millimetric data (identifying and entering new data in SIMBAD,
importing catalogues in VizieR and images in Aladin).

The postdoctoral fellow will dedicate 50% of his/her time to this
service-oriented activity, and the other 50% to personal research in
collaboration with one of the teams of the Observatoire de Strasbourg.
The main topics covered at the Observatory are:
- dynamics and evolution of galaxies (including the Galaxy)
- high energy astrophysics
- stellar populations
- methods for information management and information retrieval.

The position is a one-year appointment, renewable for a second year.
A PhD in radioastronomy is required.
Applicants are invited to submit a CV and a statement of their previous
experience and interest for the position to Dr. Francoise Genova at the
above address. They should also arrange to have at
least two letters of recommendation sent directly to the same
address. The first review of applications will be held on 10 August 2001.
