POSTDOC AND PHD POSITIONS IN GALACTIC MICROLENSING

Depending on funding by the German Science Foundation (DFG), one post-doc
position and a few PhD positions in the proposed project
'Astrophysical results from galactic microlensing observations' will be
available in a workgroup led by Dr. Martin Dominik at the Institute for
Physics of Potsdam University, Germany. The salary for all positions will be
the usual salary for German postdocs (BAT-O IIa), i.e. also for PhD students a
full position rather than half a position (BAT-O IIa/2) is offered.
The successful candidates are expected to work mainly on fundamental
theoretical aspects of galactic microlensing, the analysis of collected data
in order to extract the scientific results, and on the implementation
of useful software. This work will be related to the experiments PLANET, SLOTT,
and GAIA (and maybe others).
Implementation of the project is planned to start in the summer of 2001,
possible candidates should be able to start their work between Juli and October
2001.
If you think that this is the right job for you (or that you are the right
person for this job), feel free to contact
Dr. Martin Dominik (see address below) or directly send a curriculum vitae,
a publication list, and a summary of previous research before 1-Apr 2001.
